Essential Dental Implant Support for patients experiencing bone loss in Phoenix, AZ

A fixed full-arch solution to missing teeth - discover why 98% of patients recommend the All-On-4 treatment concept!

A missing tooth impacts more than just your smile—it affects your overall oral health. When a tooth is lost, the jawbone can begin to deteriorate, being slowly absorbed back into the body. However, the skilled team at SC Dentistry can restore the strength and functionality of your jawbone, preparing it for a dental implant through a technique known as bone grafting.

If you're experiencing weakened jawbone integrity or are considering dental implants, contact SC Dentistry to schedule a consultation with Dr. Steven Chang.

What is Bone Grafting?

During your initial consultation, Dr. Steven Chang will determine if your specific condition would benefit from a bone graft, also referred to as “pre-prosthetic surgery.” If you are missing teeth and wish to pursue dental implants, a healthy amount of jawbone at the implant site is crucial. Bone grafting effectively increases bone mass where it may have been lost due to injury, previous extractions, or periodontal disease.

At SC Dentistry, we utilize the latest advancements in bone grafting, offering several techniques, including:

  • Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

  • Bone Morphogenetic Proteins (BMP)

  • Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate (BMAC)

  • Stem Cells

Highly Recommended! I'm active duty Air Force at Luke Air Force Base and military dental care does not include implants. I needed an Implant for my front tooth and Dr. Chang was so good! He was so professional! The technology he has is mind-blowing! I was impressed by how quickly my implant site healed.

Where others may have cut corners to make the job quicker, he cared for my bite like he would have cared for his own. His meticulous attention to detail was outstanding.

Benefits of Dental Implants
After Bone Grafting

Once the bone grafting is complete and your jawbone has regained its robustness, it's time to proceed with implant placement. Dr. Steven Chang specializes in dental implant procedures, adhering to the highest standards of care and utilizing cutting-edge technology to ensure your implants and prosthetic teeth last a lifetime.

The dual benefits of successful bone grafts followed by dental implants include enhanced functionality—improving your ability to speak and eat—and the aesthetic improvement of your smile’s symmetry.

What Does a Bone Grafting Procedure Involve?

Bone grafting typically involves a few steps to establish a solid foundation for dental implants and usually takes less than two hours:

  1. Anesthesia: The area is numbed using local anesthesia. For those who prefer, sedation options like nitrous oxide, general anesthesia, and IV sedation are available. Patients will need someone to drive them to and from the office if IV sedation or general anesthesia is used.

  2. Grafting: The bone graft material is secured to the jawbone and shaped appropriately. Sterile allogeneic bone is used, which will integrate with your native bone over four months.

  3. Closure: The site is closed with sutures.

  4. Post-Operative Care: Dr. Chang provides detailed care instructions to aid in recovery.
