Experience the comfort of No Shot, No Drill Laser Fillings at SC Dentistry

Seamless Smiles, No Shots, No Drills: Laser Fillings Redefined

At SC Dentistry, we are proud to offer No Shot Laser Dentistry, a comfortable and advanced alternative to traditional dental methods. Approved by the FDA in 1994 and increasingly popular due to advancements in technology, laser dentistry is now an integral part of our practice. Dr. Steven Chang and our team of dentists have undergone extensive training and have received special credentials from the Academy of Laser Dentistry to provide these services.

What Can Laser Dentistry Do?

Laser dentistry employs two types of lasers: soft tissue and hard tissue lasers. While soft tissue lasers are common, SC Dentistry also utilizes hard tissue lasers for direct work on teeth, such as preparing a tooth for a dental filling.

As laser technology advances, we anticipate incorporating it into even more dental procedures, moving away from traditional tools.

How Does No Shot Laser Dentistry Work?

We use cutting-edge lasers for precise, hard tissue dental work. This technology cuts through tooth structure with more accuracy than traditional drills by using water and the tooth's own minerals to absorb the laser energy. For soft tissue, lasers penetrate and are absorbed by water and blood's hemoglobin, sealing nerve endings and blood vessels, which significantly reduces pain.

The use of hard tissue lasers avoids the heat and vibration typical of dental drills, eliminating the painful sensations often associated with drilling.

I'm not sure that most would look at an appointment for a root canal as pleasurable, but I can honestly say that we enjoyed every second that we were there. The amount of time and attention paid to teaching and explaining was so appreciated. We were so comfortable with them that we ended up doing the treatment the same day.

My first visit was very personal. My daughter and I went together and they spent as much time needed with each of us to explain all procedures and to answer any questions either of us may have had. We never felt rushed and appreciated the fact that they got to know us. Will definitely recommend SC Dentistry!

Top 9 Benefits of No Shot-No Drill Fillings:

  1. Pain-Free Procedures: Laser dentistry significantly reduces pain during procedures by eliminating the need for shots (anesthetics) and the use of drills, which are often the primary sources of discomfort in traditional dentistry.

  2. Minimized Anxiety: Many patients experience anxiety due to the noise and vibration of dental drills. Lasers operate quietly and smoothly, reducing fear and stress associated with dental visits.

  3. Faster Recovery: The precision of laser treatments results in less trauma to the surrounding tissues, leading to quicker healing and recovery times compared to conventional methods.

  4. Reduced Bleeding and Swelling: Lasers cauterize as they cut, which minimizes bleeding during soft tissue procedures and reduces post-operative swelling.

  5. No Need for Sutures: In many cases, the precision and cauterizing effect of lasers eliminate the need for sutures, simplifying the procedure and recovery process.

  6. Preservation of Healthy Tissue: Lasers offer high precision, allowing dentists to target diseased or damaged areas without affecting the surrounding healthy tissues.

  7. Decreased Risk of Infection: The sterilizing effect of the laser beam reduces the risk of infection by killing bacteria at the site of the procedure.

  8. Improved Precision and Accuracy: Lasers provide a high degree of accuracy, enhancing the effectiveness of dental treatments like cavity removal, reshaping tissues, and preparing teeth for fillings.

  9. Versatility: Laser dentistry is versatile and can be used for a range of procedures, including cavity preparation, gum reshaping, biopsies, and removal of soft tissue lesions.
